FIRE IN DUNEDIN
OLD BUILDING GUTTED Press Association. DUNEDIN. To-day. An old dilapidated wooden building, two storeys high, at the corner of Manse and High Streets, formerly the Occidental Hotel, but later occupied by Mann’s news agency, Wilson’s boot depot, an all-night pharmacy. Ball’s marble .bar, and Cameron’s boarding house, was partially gutted by fire early this morning. The building had long been recognised as a death trap, and it was fortunate that the boarding house was vacated only yesterday morning. All the shops were flooded with water, but little damage was done by fire.
