PLAYING WITH GUN

(From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Monday. Two children were playing with a double-barrelled shotgun at Tikipunga yesterday afternoon when it exploded, and one of them, Stuart Cambridge, aged five years, had the first and second fingers of the right hand shattered by the charge. The parents of the second boy were absent at a funeral at the time. Assistance was summoned and the little boy was soon on his way to hospital, where two fingers were amputated. This morning he was reported to be making good progress.
