SUMMER-TIME PRAISED
MR. SIDEY’S SERVICES COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL PROPOSAL Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. At a recent meeting of the committee of the Summer Time Appreciation Movement it was reported that in Wellington more than 5,000 persons had voluntarily subscribed to mark their approval of the Act of last session, and numerous expressions of opinion had been received as to the beneficial effect of the change. It was decided to give Mr. Sidey every assistance in his efforts next session to place the measure permanently on the Statute Book. No definite decision was arrived at as to how Mr. Sidey’s services up to the present should be recognised, but the most popular suggestion was that a medal be struck to be known as the T. K. Sidey Summer Time Medal, to be awarded periodically, together with a substantial monetary prize, to the person who has made the most contributions to our knowledge of light as it relates to human welfare. The fund still remains open.
