APPLES DULL OF SALE EGG PRICES STEADY Apples are dull of sale at the moment. Island fruit meets with a ready sale at fairly low prices. A fresh shipment of oranges comes to hand from the Cook Group on the Waipahi on Thursday. This fruit is goincr out fairly steadily, but not, vendors complain, at profitable prices. Hothouse grapes are still available at high prices, but supplies should soon be exhausted. Lemons met with a mediocre demand at late rates. Hothouse tomatoes are making slightly easier prices. Little movement is registered in the market for most classes of vegetables. Ample supplies are coming forward and meeting with a keen demand. Values for eggs remain steady at the moment, but a further decline in the next fortnight would not be unexpected, morning ranged as follow: FRUIT Apples.—Sturmers, extra fancy, 7s to 8s a case; others, 3s to ss; Delicious, ex cool store, 5s to 7s; Jonathan. 5s to 7s 6d: Ballarats, 5s to 6s; Rome Beauty, 5s to 5s 6d; Pigeonette, 5s to 7s; Dougherty, 3s to ss. Pears.—Coles, 9s to 10s a case; Nellis, 9s 6d to 10s; Clairgeau, 6s to 7s. Tomatoes.—Choice, local, hothouse, 9d to Is a lb.; outdoor, 3s to 10s a box; Hutt, 6s to 10s a box.
