In a Rugby League match on Saturday at Brisbane, Queensland defeated England by 21 points to 7. In the billiards match of 18,000 up at Melbourne, Lindrum has scored 9,000 and McConachy 7,674. The best breaks were:—Lindrum: 997, 295, 111, 196, 107, 367, 171; McConachy: 455, 261, 474. In a lawn tennis match, Australia versus England, Hopman (Australia) defeated Sharpe, 4—6, 2 —6, 6—3, 6 —2, 6—2; Crawford (Australia) defeated Sharpe, 6 —4, 7 —5. The Three Spires Club, Coventry, defeated the United Australia and New Zealand bowlers by 131 points to 93. The green was heavy because of rain. The scores were: Barlow, 12 to 21: Gartrell, 17 to 23; Wall, 10 to 24: Robson, 16 to 14; Copeland, 20 to IS; Hill, IS to 32. The New Zealand bowlers met the Kenilworth team at Rathmines, near Dublin, and were defeated by 115 points to 102. The scores in the New Zealand skips’ rinks were: Parker, 22 to 14; Grant, 24 to 13; Hutchison, 17 to 17; Sole, 16 to 17; Carson, 16 to 20; Hill, 7 to 34. In the Kent lawn tennis championships Miss Ryan won three events. She won the singles for the sixth time. In the final of the men’s singles Kingsley defeated Spence, 2—6, 6—4. B—6; Ryan defeated Chamberlain, 6 —2. 10 —S. In the men’s doubles Lycett and Spence defeated Grets: and David, 6—3, 7 —5. In the mixed doubles Spence and Miss Ryan defeated Andrews and Miss Akhurst, 6—3, 5 —7, B—6; Ryan and Mrs. Lycett defeated Miss Clarke and Chamberlain, 6—2, 4—6, 6—l.
