PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT HOWICK In spite of the unfavourable weather prevailing on Saturday, the Pakuranga Hunt Club held its meet at Howick. There was only a small attendance of followers, and the going was very hard. A successful draw was made at the back of Howick, and after a short run across country the quarry reached the Pakuranga Road, and after following the road for some distance found shelter in a gully. A visit was then made to Mr. Nicholas's property, and a strong hare was raised. It led the field a good run, till driving rain fell, preventing the huntsmen and horses from seeing the wire fences. As there was no sign of the rain easing, the meet was declared off. The next meet of the club will be held at Ramarama on Wednesday, and on the following Saturday it will meet at the Flat Bush School. REMINDERS Wellington winter meeting entries are due on Monday, June 18. Handicaps for the opening day of the Te Kuiti meeting, to be held at Ellerslie on June 30 and July 2, are clue to make their appearance on Monday, June 18, and acceptances close on Friday, June 22. Nominations for the C.J.C. Grand National fixture close on Friday, June 29, for the principal events, and on July 20 for all other races.
