Big Road Race.—The date of the next Timaru to Christchurch cycle road race has been fixed for October 6, provided that the date is free from big football fixtures.—P.A.
Divorce Granted.—ln the .-erne Court yesterday Mr. Justice Biair granted a decree nisi to Sophia Clark, of Okoroire, against Alexander Clark, on the grounds of failure to obey an order of restitution of conjugal rights.
Race Train Arrangements.—Particulars of issue of holiday excursion tickets and train arrangements in connection with the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting on June 23 and 27 are advertised in this issue.
Stolen Overcoat.—Julius Morven, aged 52, who pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to a charge of stealing an overcoat from a parked motor-car, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment.
Consumption Inquiry.—The committee appointed by the Government to investigate the treatment of consumption visited Palmerston North to-day, taking evidence at the hospital, and later leaving for Waipukurau.
Ankle Fractured.—Suffering from a fractured ankle, as the result of being knocked down by a motor-car about nine o’clock last evening, Elizabeth Sowden, aged 59, of 8 Benedict Street, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition is improving.
Struck by Lorry.—Through being knocked down by a lorry as she was about to board a Ponsonby tram in Karangahape Road last evening, a young girl, Edith Carpenter, had her legs severely bruised. After medical treatment she returned to her home at 76 Lincoln Street,.
