“THE CALL”
ENGLISH WOMEN’S PAPER HER POINT OF VIEW A company was recently formed in London, “The Call, Ltd.,” with a share capital of £1,000,000, and the objects as set out in the prospectus explain themselves: —- The objects of The Call, Ltd., are to publish a non-party, clean, up-to-date, daily newspaper entitled “The Call,” and to carry on a printing and publishing business. The Call in 1914 was "To Arms” and men answered it in millions— The Call in 1928 is to women to arm against arms—to arm for right against might. The Call is to 1,000,000 women to enlist with the men who are fighting for peace. “The Call” will be a newspaper owned solely by women. It will be produced by some of the most competent and distinguished women and men of the day. Its policy will be to insist on the enactment of just laws for both sexes irrespective of creed, party, nationality or dominating sectional interests. It will voice woman’s point of view. It will raise the present status of women and, as a natural sequence, that of men. It will demonstrate to woman that her place in the world is second to none. It ■will help her to take her rightful place side by side with man in all its councils. It will substantially support the candidature of women for public offices, qpd also that of men who adopt its policy. It will work devotedly for the welfare of the young. It will strive to wipe out pauperism, and Its aim will ever be directed towards the high goal—the Brotherhood of Man. Surely a brave array of ideals! To remove hot-water marks from a polished table, make a thin paste of salt and salad oil. Lay this on the marks and leave for about one hour. Then rub well with a dry duster. If your rubber apron-strings come off, rub on a little seccotine and press a few seconds with a hot iron.
