EMPIRE

“THE SHAMROCK AND THE ROSE”

A happy romantic comedy of New York, and the rivalry between an Irish and a Jewish family is “The Shamrock and the Rose,” which is now being shown at the Empire Theatre. If it hadn’t been for “Ice Cream” Cohen’s strange and amazing salesmanship, “Hot Hog” Kelly might have had a nourishing, glowing business. Naturally this grave injury was a shock to the latter’s Irish dignity. But ail might have gone well, had not Cohen’s daughter had the nerve to 6mile at Kelly’s son. What a smile—one of those “come hither” looks that had him figuring out the price of an engagement ring.

The leading players are Edmund Burns, Olive Hasbrouck and Mack Swain,

“Wolf Fangs” is the seeastd feature and stars “Thunder,” the marvellous dog actor.
