CITY BOTANICAL ADVISER CR. BRINSDEN PROTESTS An echo of the recent visit of Dr. Hill, botanist of the Kew Gardens, London, was heard at the City Council’s meeting last evening, when Councillor A. J. Stallworthy, protested against a recommendation that an honorary botanist be not appointed. This was a suggestion made by Dr. Hill. Mr. Stallworthy moved that the recommendation be referred back. Councillor F. W. Brinsden: It is an insult to Mr. Pearson, the head city gardener, a very capable man. Councillor Stallworthy’s motion was carried, Councillor Brinsden protesting. The council* decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Horticultural .Institute—subscription, one guinea.
