OYSTERS NEXT MONTH

PICKING PREPARATIONS Oyster picking will commence before the end of this month in preparation for the opening of the season on July 11. Most of the oysters for the Auckland markets will come from the Bay of Islands and Kaipara Harbour. The shellfish will also be taken from the beds at Great Barrier. Whangarei Harbour and Hauraki Gulf Islands. The season may be extended a little, because of the late opening, but it will have to close in October,
