N.Z. CRICKET CAPTAIN
j Mi*. T. C. Lowry, Hawke’s Lay and I New Zealand representative cricketer, j has acquired a valuable farm property in Taihape and will take up residence there. The transaction, which was said to involve £50,000, was probably’ the largest sale effected in the Ra»igitikei district for some time. As Taihape comes under the Wellington Province, M.r. T. Lowry Lowry will still be available for Wellington l'epresentative cricket, but will not be eligible to play for Hawke’s Bay in Hawke Cup matches. Rangitikei now boasts two Cambridge “blues,” the other being G. A. Rotherham, a slow bowler. To-morrow a bowling team from the Rawhiti Club, headed by the capable W. Chiplin, will dispute the right of the holders of the Edwin Stars their right to retain these coveted bowling honours.
