BALL AT TE PAPAPA
FOR PARISH FUNDS The success which attended the fancy dress ball held in the Town Hall, Te Papapa, on Saturday evening, reflected much credit on the organisers of the function, which was in aid of the parish funds. Despite the cold and wet evening the hall was thronged with dancers, who were enthusiastic in their appreciation of the excellent music provided by Mainland’s orchestra. Mrs. Le Marquand was the organiser of the dance and a committee including Mrs. Alcock, Mrs. Bousaid, Mrs. Franklin, Mrs. Cummings, Mrs. McClocky and Miss Alcock worked with her. The hall was attractively decorated and the vivid colouring of the fancy dresses added much to the carnival appearance of the dance. Mrs. Babbington won a special prize during the evening and Mr. Bice was the winner of the men’s prize. A prize for the most attractive frock went to Miss I. Kitchen. Mrs. Murray acted as judge of the fancy dresses. Among the children present in fancy dresses were: Vera Appleton, Victoria; C. Tole, powder puff; S. Frankton, jockey; P. Graham, powder puff; F. Bouzaid, Cupid; J. Bouzaid, kewpie; Misses Peterkin, roosters; 1. Barlow, Dutch boy; M. Bouzaid, night time; C. Bouzaid, bath time; I. Ogle, autumn; J. Wilson, spider web; M. King, sunflower; D.
