AN IRISH TENOR
T IKE John McCormack, the lllustrious Irish tenor, Alfred O’Shea was trained in Italy and made his debut there in Italian opera. This is no mean feat for a Briton as the Italian audiences are said to be the most critical in the world. Even Caruso was afraid of them, and Galli-Curci has yet to conquer there. Only
the best are wanted In the land where glorious voices are to be met at every turn, and the fact that Alfred O'Shea is to appear in Italy again after operatic and concert engagements in America stamps him as one of the world’s greatest tenors. His New Zealand tour, which must necessarily be brief, owing to contracts in other parts of the world, will commence about the middle of this month. He will be under the direction of Mr, Henry Hayward, with Messrs. Leo Du Chateau and Scott Colville as managers. He will appear at Auckland on June 26, 28, 30 and July 2. ••->1 • - -
