POLITICS NOT WANTED
MORRINSVILLE FARMERS’ PROTEST
WILL NOT JOIN ANY PARTY (From Our Own Correspondent) MORRINSVILLE, W ednesday. The Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union does not hold with the union taking part in politics. At a meeting of the branch the president, Mr. J. M. Allen, said he had been considering his position, which was becoming untenable. If political action was supported it would be a great mistake. The Farmers’ Union meetings should be gatherings where farmers’ problems were discussed without the intervention of politics. It was important that the branch should decide upon some attitude to enable the leaders to consider their position. A good deal of discussion took place and finally the following resolution was carried unanimously:—“That this branch does not attach itself to any political party in spite of any resolution passed to the contrary by the Auckland executive.”
