Healthy Tone on ’Change
SHIPPING ACTIVE
HEALTHY trading was recorded at yesterday afternoon's and this morning's call on ’Change. An increased volume of business was recorded.
Banks are quietly steady with Australasias improved to see business at £l4 14s and more wanted at that figure. In insurances, buyers of Nationals were in at 15s fid this morning:, but no business resulted, and at mid-day quotations dropped Id to 15s od. Shipping was active yesterday afternoon. Devonport Steams were dealt with at 255, while Huddart-Parkers .saw business at 47s 6d. Tn timbers, buyers for Leyland O'Briens came in this morning at 31s, with more of the shares available at the latest selling figure of 345. Kauris are still sought at 19s. Breweries continue to hold the increased interest registered over the past few days. Crowns were dealt with at 10s. The miscellaneous section registers little movement. Sellers of Wilsons Cements weakened a further 6d at mid-day.
In mining, Waihis are active around 11s 6d. More interest is also registered in Ohinemuris, but no business is recorded in the scrip. Other mining continues; weak and depressed.
