TONGA’S NEW ISLAND

Sir.— I was very interested to read the account in yesterday’s Sun of the hoisting of the Tongan flag on Falcon Island by the Prince-Consort of that little kingdom. If I remember rightly, the last time Falcon Island bobbed up the flag of France was planted on it« steaming shore. What is the position in international law? Can any of your readers enlighten me? Does Falcon Island become new and uncharted territory each time it pays us a call?
