BOYS’ BAND

PONSONBY’S GOOD YEAR The Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Band last year experienced the most successful year since its foundation, and made a profit of £331. The annual meeting was held last night. The band, which has a membership, including seniors and recruits, of 90 boys, had paid visits to Rotorua and Whangarei, and played at the Agricultural Show, the Winter Exhibition and at concerts, picnics and excursions. Mr. J. D. Hurfit, who read the report, referred to the promotion of the conductor, Mr. F. G. Lawn, to the rank of lieutenant-bandmaster.

The following officers were elected: President. Mr. W. Cecil Leys; chairman, Mr. R. Francis; treasurer. Mr. J. Whitfield; committee, Mes. . W. Jackson, W. Saxon. R. Short. W. Dear. W. Gear, C. Wheeler, and H. M. White.
