POLICE RAID IN CITY
SIX ARRESTS MADE BAD CHARACTERS GAOLED FURTHER DISCLOSURES PROMISED At 1.45 yesterday afternoon, the police raided an apartment house at 74 Albert Street. Four women and two men were arrested. It was a ragged and debauched sextette that stood in the dock at the Police Court to-day. Eileen Marmont, aged 37, Ada Harwood, aged 47, Margaret Eileen McCormack, aged 27, Cecil Osmond Harwood, aged 21, Mary Dorrity, aged 52, and David Morgan, aged 50, were each charged with being idle and disorderly. The women pleaded guilty to thi« charge, and the men not guilty. Tinsix pleaded guilty to a further charge of being in the company of reputed thieves, and being unable to give an account of lawful means of support. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that all the accused, with the exception of the young man, were well-known characters., They had long lists, and the women were conducting an illegal trade. Morgan was living on their earnings. With the exception of Cecil Harwood, who was remanded to appear for sentence to-morrow, each of the accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Mr. McCarthy said he would have further evidence to bring before the Court to-morrow.
