Sir, — The latest effusion of Mr. Dowle (June 9) is interesting only in that it shows the orthodox apologist in his true colours. Rational and friendly discussion between opponents seems foreign to Mr. Dowle, as is well exemplified in his closing remarks, which border upon abuse. He says that I may “bluff,” but I willingly leave to the judgment of all fair-minded and discriminating persons whether it be I or he who is “bluffing.” He raised the question of the “jargon of science” (which I confined myself to), and when I exposed (June 7) ‘1115” jargon, he says it is “hair-splitting.” Wriggling in that manner will not extricate him
