PONTIAC AND OAKLAND USED
AMERICAN “DRIVE-YOURSELF” Probably the hardest test that a oar can experience after it leaves the factory is that received by the cars that go into the “drive-yourself” service. This fact has been attested by cxperators of the self-service-taxicab stations. Recently the Hertz Corporation, the largest operator of self-service cabs in the world, tested out a number of makes of cars for its. service. In the “drive-yourself” service the cars are rented out to all types of drivers, and usually the oar is subjected to a harder usage than even the badly-used privately owned car. To test the durability of Oakland and Pontiac Sixes for the “drive-your-self” service, the Hertz Corporation placed 25 of them at the disposal of its customers. A year’s test proved the cars to be not only durable, but that they could be operated with surprising economy. As a result, an order for 150 Oakland and Pontiac Sixes was placed by the Hertz firm. The cars are rented to the public for pleasure and commercial purposes. The shop *vas deserted except for the cashier. A handsome young man strolled in. “Do you keep motor-car accessories here?” he asked. The pretty cashier smiled sweetly. “Only me,” sh© replied.—“ Goodyear News.”
