YEAR OF PROGRESS

SCHOOL COMMITTEES ASSOCIATION’S MEETING “The association has continued to make progress, the number of affiliated committees standing at 105,” states the annual report of the Auckland Primary School Committees’ Association, which will be presented at the annual leeting to be held on Wednesday evening, June 20, at the Teachers’ Institute Room, Wellesley Street. “Notwithstanding the progress made, there are still a number of committees in the cty, suburbs and country which have not yet affiliated, and it is hoped that during the coming year quite a number of these will do so.”

The association is in a good position financially, continues the report. Quarterly meetings have been held, and the delegates have shown much interest in the various questions brought before them. Questions discussed were referred either to the Minister of Education or the Board of Education. The Mount Roskill School ommittee will present the following remit the annual meeting: “That the Education Department pay travelling allowances U those children who live more than one mile from a manual training centre when they are required to take classes at such a centre.” The Greenhithe School Committee will submit the following remit: “That the Education Department, in view of the climatic conditions, adopt open-air schools in the Auckland Province, on similar lines to those in use in the South Island.”
