COMMUNITY SINGING

“JASPER” LEADS TO-MORROW

The first community sing of the winter season will be conducted by ‘‘Jasper” in the Strand Theatre to-mor-row. This is indeed welcome news. Even if the All Blacks have been defeated, and if income tax returns still linger and the Civic Square sections are not selling, life is still worth living. Gloom will be dispersed to-morrow. The special feature of the programme is “Jaspers Medley,” a local composition of an entirely novel form. The Mayor, Mr. George Baildon, will preside to-morrow. Song books are being provided free of charge. All proceeds from the usual collection will go to unendowed charities.
