Over 100 Lost when Ship Turns Turtle
DISASTER AT HONG-KONG CAPSIZE ON SAND BAR (United Service) (United P.A. —JE>j/ Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9.5 a.m. HONG-KOXG, Sunday. The Chinese river steamer Kochow, packed with 360 passengers and a crew of 80, struck a sandbar and turned turtle when proceeding to Wuchow from HongKong late on Saturday night.
The steamers Kwongving and Kongning were nearby at the time and rescued approximately 320, leaving 120 unaccounted for. The survivors were brought to Hong-Kong this morning. No Europeans were aboard excepting the captain and officers, all of whom were saved.
