THE CONCRETE ROAD
“BEST YET DISCOVERED" “There is not the slightest doubt that the concrete road, properly constructed is the best yet discovered, and it a reasonable to anticipate that there wj: be a gradually increasing demand hr cement for road construction through, out the Dominion,” stated Sir Georg* Elliot in his address as chairman of directors to the annual meeting of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement. Ltd., this afternoon. “Another point, too, that should weigh with the Highways Board and the members of local bodies is the fact that everything used in eonnectiw with the concrete road is obtainabl* in New Zealand. “In these days when unemploynwt is rife, the question of using local ma terials whenever and wherever possibk should receive the most careful cobsideration, in this case especially, u the concrete road, all over the world, is becoming more and more recognised as the best, the cleanest, the most permanent. and. in the long run, th* cheapest road that can be laid."
