PAHIATUA DECISION VERY SUCCESSFUL. YEAR Press Association. PAHIATUA. To-day. The Pahiatua County Council unanimously resolved in future to give a Saturday half-holiday to all surfacemen and other employees. The movers of the proposal were Backblock members. “We all take our half-day for football or race meetings,” said one councillor. “why shouldn't our employees be able to do the same. Some of them are footballers and would like to play too.” The council has had an exceptionally successful year and a great deal of permanent work and reconstruction of bridges and culverts in ferro-concrete has been carried out. The financial position is very gratifying. The council has secured a fresh site for the erection of new county offices, payment to be made out of rates without increasing the latter. The chairman, Mr. S. Bolton, who has held office for many years, has been warmly congratulated for his county
