LAND MARKET IMPROVES
SOUTH AUCKLAND INQUIRIES
(From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Sunday. The South Auckland land market has shown renewed activity during the past month. Quite a number of sales have been recorded where substantial cash deposits have been paid. The sales have been mostly farms of from 50 to 150 acres, although there has been inquiry for larger holdings. A drift Waikato-wards seems to have set in, several Taranaki and Manawatu farmers having recently purchased land here. House property, while not bringing a spirited demand, is hardening, and it is difficult in Hamilton to get a good house to rent. Local land agents say their lists are full of clients w r aiting for houses, but all that are available are inferior dwellings some distance from town. Owners who would have been prepared to let their houses go for little more than the mortgages on them are now holding on with the distinct prospect of increasing values.
