G.N. TROTTING DERBY

ENTRIES FOR 1929 CONTEST RUN AT SUMMER CARNIVAL The Auckland Trotting Clubhas reverted to the former order of things in connection with the staging of the 1929 Great Northern Derby, which will be run at the December fixture, instead of the October meeting, as obtained last year, and will be followed out again this year. When the promising brother to Great Bingen and Peter Bingen, Great Peter, led the field home in the 1926 Great Northern Derby, the event was decided at the Christmas carnival, as hod been the custom in previous years. Then came a change and the classic was put forward on the Auckland schedule to the Ooctober fixture, and the 1927 Derby fell to the lot of Daphne de Oro, who has since that time Avon several good races, including the New Zealand Derby, and ranks as one of the best j three-year-olds the Dominion has pro|duced.

The stage is again set for the Northern in October of this year, and a list of those who survived the second forfeit was published in yesterday’s Sun. But the 1929 classic will not be contested until the summer carnival rolls round, and the following entries of present time yearlings have been received by secretary A. G. Mabee: A. J.
