“ABIE’S IRISH ROSE”
NANCY CARROLL FEATURED Five and a half years ago, a little New York show girl visited c. theatre on Broadway, and witnessed a performance of. Anne Nichols’s “Abie’s Irish Rose.” A- that time, “Abie” had just started its run, and had not yet startled the world with its popularity. Nor was there any indication a~. that time that the play would run for six years continuously. When she returned home, she remarked to her sister, Terry, that the play would make a “great movie,” and that some day she hoped to see it on the screen. That same little show girl, Nancy Carroll, has recently completed the role of Rosemary in the film version of “Abie,” made at the Paramount studios in Hollywood. Charles Rogers, the dashing “newcover” to the screen, played the leading man opposite Miss Carroll in the production. Anne Nichols, the author, personally supervised the making of the picture, and was responsible for the remarkable casting of the players.
