MUNICIPAL CHOIR
NEXT SATURDAY
The Municipal Choir will give its first concert of the season in the Town Llall on Saturday evening next, when the programme will include choral works by Wilbye, Cesar Franck, Mendelssohn and Boughton. It is said that all paths lead to Rome, but this phrase is just as applicable to Hollywood at the present day, for the motion-picture town numbers among its inhabitants men and women from every country of the world and from every walk of life, from street sweepers to scientists, from carpenters to counts, and from army officers to actors. The latest addition to the list is the Archduke Leopold of Austria, who is appearing in the Fox production, "Four Sons,” a story of the war from the German angle, which John Ford is engaged on making. The Archduke takes the role of an army captain, and contributes a dignified characterisation.
The Warner Brothers’ Master Picture, “If I Were Single,” featuring May McAvoy, supported by Conrad Nagel, Andre Beranger and Myrna Loy, which will shortly be released in New Zealand. was screened at the Roxy Theatre at New York during April, and was dubbed one of the most pleasing allround pictures yet screened at that house.
