SELDOM lias mining been so depressed on tlie Auckland ’Change. Most shares are idle and neglected. Other sections remain in good tone with breweries receiving more attention.

In coals, Hikurangis register a strong tone with the ordinaries slightly firmer at this morning’s call. Buyers at 5s were uable to attract business, sellers holding for 5s 4d. Sellers of Kauri Timbers withdrew this morning, buyers improving further to 19s. Sellers of Nationals came in after a long absence at a new lowlevel of 9s, but failed to find support.
