MINING NEGLECTED
SELDOM lias mining been so depressed on tlie Auckland ’Change. Most shares are idle and neglected. Other sections remain in good tone with breweries receiving more attention.
Banks and insurances are steady, the former registering: a continued flow ol' business on a firm market. In coals, Hikurangis register a strong tone with the ordinaries slightly firmer at this morning’s call. Buyers at 5s were uable to attract business, sellers holding for 5s 4d. Sellers of Kauri Timbers withdrew this morning, buyers improving further to 19s. Sellers of Nationals came in after a long absence at a new lowlevel of 9s, but failed to find support. Greater and more widespread interest is evinced in breweries, with the
, market for New Zealands registering a slightly firmer tone. Mining receives less and ;|fention every week. To-day only three lots of scrip were quoted. Waihis and Mount Lyells were a point or so easier. Yetserday afternoon’s business: On ’Change: Waihi Mining, 11s 6d. Reported: Taranaki Oils, 10s sd; Commercial Bank of Australia, 29s 7d; N.Z. Breweries, 41s 3d. This morning’s business: Reported: Goldsbrough, Mort, 50s 9d; National Bank of N.Z., £7 6s 6d; Bank of N.S.W., £4B 10s; N.Z. Refrigerating, 8s 4d.
