SUVA BOUND
Varsity Team’s Trip VISIT TO FIJI RUGBY IN THE ISLANDS Outward bound for Suva, a team of Auckland University footballers will leave Auckland on August 10. They are to play a short programme of Rugby matches in the Fiji Islands. This is not the first trip undertaken by Auckland University Rugby men. They voyaged to Fiji two years ago, had a royal time in the Islands, and won two of the four matches played. The team on that occasion was fairly strong—it was captained by F. Macken, while the vice-captain was L. E.
Brooker —and it was a reflection of fairly solid Rugby strength in the Islands that it could win only twice, one match being lost, and the other drawn. This season the strength of the team that makes the trip will probably depend largely on University’s position in the Auckland senior championship. Rather than jeopardise the team’s chances in the championship, the star senior players would probably stay at home. Whatever happens, those University players who make the trip will be certain of a wonderful holiday. and of keen Rugby in between times.
