BANKS ACTIVE

A HEALTHY TONE was registered on ’Change this morning with no spectacular movement in any section.

Banks continue in specially good tone with the general trend upwards. Nationals of New Zealand are firmer, with buyers in at £7 6s. Commercials have hardened in sympathy with outside markets anrl sales are recorded at 29s Bd. Other scrip in this section is firm. Coals are quiet, with most of the established companies’ scrip meeting with a steady demand at unchanged rates.

Little movement is registered in the miscellaneous section. Wilsons Cements continue to show' a wide margin be-

tween buyers’ and sellers’ quotations. Mining is quiet. A healthy tone is registered in the market for gilt-edged securities, with buyers predominating.
