NEW PRAYER BOOK.-—The revised Prayer Book measure has been introduced into the House of £ommons and the debate begun. Its fat"> will be decided on June 13 and 14. —.A..P.A. LIXDRUM LEADS.—In the Sydney billiards match between McConachy (New Zealand) and Lindrum, the New Zealander has made 11,110, and is in play. Lindrum’s score is 12,603. Breaks: —McConachy, 462, 121, 126, 113. Lindrum, 213, 292, 207, 219, 265. MURDERER TO DIE. —The rabbittrapper, William Maynard, was found guilty of murdering Mr. Richard Roadley near Bude and was sentenced to death. Accused’s evidence consisted of an attack on the police. He alleged they had obtained a statement from him by threats. —A.P.A. CAROL’S HOST. —In the House of Commons the Home Secretary, Sir William Joynson-Hicks, in reply to a question, said he thought it was unnecessary to take steps against Mr. Jonescu, the recent host of ex-Prince Carol of Rumania. He said Mr. Jonescu had lived in England for a number of years. He did not think that Prince Carol was likely to return.—A.P.A.-U.S. MOTOR-CYCLE RACE.—-The Junior Tourist Trophy motor-cycle race, which is held annually in the Isle of Man, was won by Alec Bennett on a 350 c.c. Velocette. The course is of 264 miles, and runs over mountains and round numerous perilous turns. The winner’s average speed was 68.65 miles an hour. This exceeds the record of 67.19 miles an hour established last year by F. W. Dickson.—British Wireless.
