Tea Off-Stage

Miss De Vries Nearly Loses Her Nightly Cup

SECRETARY ON THE JOB A cup of tea breaks the nightly routine of stage life for Miss Beppie Be Vries. - Every evening, in her dressing-room at His Majesty’s Theatre, the leading lady’s dresser prepares the beverage, and incidentally takes a cup herself. Miss Be Vries is an unselfish little lady and often sends her dresser along to one or another of the players with a steaming cup, which on chilly evenings is very much appreciated. One evening this week, as the dresser went on her mission of good cheer to an actor’s dressing-room, she was seen by the alert secretary of the Theatre Workers’ Union. “Ha. ha,” said he. "Does this come within the bounds of your duties?” or words to that effect. Rumour has it that a meeting of the committee was held and the question discussed thoroughly. Finally it was decided that Miss Be Vries could have her cup of tea made by her dresser, but that the dresser must not carry the cheering cup to anv of the other players. No, the evening tea-party has not been spoiled.
