“THE GAUCHO”

DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS STARRED From below the equator comes “Douglas Fairbanks as the Gaucho,” which new United Artists' production bids fair to create a sensation. Treasure lure is the dominating mood of the Fairbanks story. A cruel usurper has seized the “city of the miracle,” whose shrine has attracted pilgrims from afar. The Gaucho outlaw, Doug, occupies the town unknown to the usurper. A wild mountain girl, and a girl of the shrine, are strangely contrasted roles, and until the end of the play it is uncertain which girl the Gaucho will claim. Conflict and suspense reign throughout. Spectacles and thrills are supplied by vast herds of cattle, and incomparably beautiful scenery. Mr. Fairbanks’s bravado, humour and agility are strongly featured, and his use of that old missile;, the bolas, adds the ever present touch of novelty. Eve Southern and Lupe Velez' have the leading feminine roles of “The Girl of the Miracle,” and a wild madcap, respectively.

“Ladies Prefer Bonds” is the title of a spirited comedy-drama in which May McAvoy and Conrad Nagel are appearing for Warner Brothers. “Ladies Prefer Bonds” is only the tentative title.
