A 20-year-old devotee of the Goddess Terpsichore, named Pat Soper, was charged in the Police Court to-day with stealing £l7 from the home of Reginald Thomas Russell, and also with stealing an overcoat from the Regent Cabaret. Detective White said that when complainant returned home he found that his wallet, with money enclosed, had disappeared. When interviewed by police accused denied all knowledge of the theft, but the money was subsequently found in his boots. Later accused admitted visiting the home of the complainant and stealing the money. He used the money for a ring and expenses at dances. Accused had been involved in several melees at dancing halls and had made some bad companions. Mr. J. F. Strang, for accused, said accused had apparently been led by bad companions and was anxious to reform. Accused was remanded for sentence.
