POTATO MARKET FIRMER
POSITION IN CANTERBURY Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The break caused by the holiday has allowed little time since the week-end report for market developments. However. there is a disposition for the price of potatoes to become firmer. Prompt deliveries are quoted to-day at £4 17s 6d a ton, and June deliveries at £5 2s 6d, about 2s 6d more than at the week-end. DaKotas still carry a price superiority for the Wellington market and were sold to-day for Juno at £6. The Kaiwarra to-morrow is due to sail for Auckland with up to 5,000 sacks. The Northern city is well supplied at the moment. Onions have increased in value and as a ton on trucks has been paid. Lhe Australian market has jumped and there is little prospect of importation from there. Wellington and Southern centres are the main factors in tlm rise in Christchurch. _ 5* ,I^ e see d section perennial ryegrass and Western Wolths are in demand.
