’Change Market Active
BANK IN KEEN DEMAND BUSINESS in the banking section both last evening and this morning has improved and many transactions have taken f place.
The bank market is firm, with considerable activity. Bank ot Adelaide, Bank of Australasia, and English, Scottish and Australian Bank are in keen demand, and advancing in price. Bank of New Zealand and Union of Australia are selling freely at current, rates. New Zealand and South British Insurance shares are steady, and the recent rise in these shares has been maintained. Milne and Choyce’s, both shares and debenture stock, are very firm, with no sellers quoting. Union Oil, Soap, and Candle scrip 'has a steady buyer at 41s 6d, with no shares offering. Wilsons • N.Z.) Portland Cement market has not changed, one sale being made this morning at 38s 3d. Both Government and local body debentures are firm, with few sellers appealing.
