THE METAL MARKETS (Quotations on May 31 in parentheses.) Copper.—Spot, £64 0s 7&d (£64 0s 7&d); three months, £64 Is IOJd (£64 0s 7£d). Electrolytic Copper.—Spot, £6B 15s (£6B 10s); three months, £69 5s (£69). Wire Bars.—Spot, £6B 5s (£69); three months, £6B 5s (£69). Lead.—Spot, £2l 11s 3d (£2l 6s 3d); three months, £2l 16s 3d (£2l 11s 3d). Spelter.—Spot, £25 17s 6d (£26); three months, £25 13s 9d (£25 15s). Tin.—Spot, £223 18s 9d (£227 16s 3d); three months, £223 8s 9d (£227 7s 6d). Silver. —Standard, 273 d (27 11-16 d) per oz: fine, P. AND O. SHARES P. and O. deferred stock is quoted at £242 15s. WHEAT Wheat. —Cai'goes are steady at 3d to 6d higher on bullish weather reports from Canada, but the demand is quiet, owing to the improved European crop outlook. Parcels are steady, with a similar advance, with large Continental business at the week-end, but inactive in Britain. Liverpool futures: July delivery, 10s 8 3-8 d per cental; October, 10s 11 7-Sd; December, 10s 11 7-Sd. BRADFORD TOPS The market is quiet, with little inquiry. Topmalcers are confidently awaiting new business. . , APPLES AND PEARS The apple market is firm. Prices are; Ex Borda, Tasmanian Cox’s, 14s to 15s; Cleopatras, 11s to 11s 6d; Scarlets, Us to 12s; Ribstons, King Davids, 11s; Alfristons, 10s to 11s 6d; others, 9s 3d to 10s 6d. Ex Woodarra, South Australian Jonathans and Dunns, 11s to 12s; others, 10s to 11s; Tasmanian Sturmers, 11s 6d to 12s. Ex Pakeha and Argyllshire, New Zealand Jonathans, Delicious and Dunns, 11s to 12s 6d. A few splendid Cox’s, 20s to 30s. , . _ Pears. —Trays, ex Moldavia, Tasmanian Winter Nelis, 7s 6cl to 9s 6d; Josephines, 6s 3d to Us; Eastern Beurres, 5s to 6s 3d.
