A FALSE PRICE

Once again it was illustrated at. Ellerslie on Monday that backers have very poor memories. On the first day Clockwork ran a fine race in the Greenlane Steeplechase, finishing fourth after making most of the running. That company was much better than that he was asked to meet in the Hunt Cup on Monday, and yet he was sent out sixth favourite, being at big double-figure odds. Clockwork led all the way and finally scored fairly comfortably. He was a distinct possibility for the race on the opening day's running, and yet he was neglected. His jumping was good throughout, and he looks like being a bigger success over the country than he was on the flat. It was Clockwork that gained notoriety a few years back by winning three events in the one afternoon at one of the country meetings in the province.
