H.P. TO HORSES
USE FOR OLD CHASSIS Frequently, when the motor of an old car has been worn to the condition "hen repairs are too expensive, the chassis and body are still useful. They are usually broken up for scrap, but a motor trader in an American farming centre has evolved a new use. By titling shafts, and removing the transmission !ine and motor, he converted old chassis into horse wagons, and thus developed a big market among farmers who flncl horses still useful for shortcut work around the homestead. The motor chassis has the advantage of toller bearings, it lowers the body of hi* wagon if the frame is used with a aat platform, reduces the height of lhe fading line, and has a lubrication system which* is unknown on horse'rawn wagons. It has been found that °rses can draw twice the usual load x® ut omobile wagons. Chassis can changed into wagons in a few hours dn <i at small cost. com Petition is being held by f h J£ll S°ciety of Arts, in London, corative petrol pumps and filling lons - Competitors must design a ' eral Jay-out for a complete station _ a .® intersection, together with a shop or garage, and living rooms.
