KING'S BIRTHDAY BALL SIX HUNDRED DANCERS More than 600 dancers attended the successful King’s Birthday dance held at Dixieland last evening. The cabaret was effectively decorated and the softly shaded lights reflected in myriad mirrors threw a delightful changing glow of colour on the scene. Clyde How ley and his band provided all that is brightest in dance music and a number of specialty items were given by Mr. Colin Shorter, Miss Del Thompson, Miss Wilson and three musical comedians. MOTHERS’ UNION Eighteen out of 31 branches of the Auckland Mothers’ Union were represented at the general council meeting held at Bishopscourt yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Averill presiding. Lady Alice Fergusson gave a short address and talked with the member*. Later, Airs. Averill entertained her Excellency and the members present ** afternoon tea at Bishopscourt.
