WINTER SHOW TOURNEY, HAMILTON Seventy players took part in Hamilton Club's tourney, held in splendid weather at St. Andrew’s yesterday. The Winter Show Cup was won by William Horton, jun., a youthful player who, with a handicap of 28, returned a net score of 146 for the 36 holes. Horton also won the medal handicap over 18 holes with a net score of 71. P. Newland and Fisher tied as runners-up with 74. Six players tied for the bogey handicap, 2 up, and in the draw, H. Wiggins was first, with Ferguson runner-up. Mr. F. A. Swarbrick presented the prizes at the conclusion of the play, and heartily congratulated the winners. WAIRARAPA TOURNEY MASTERTON, Monday. The second day of the Wairarapa golf tournament was marked by several surprises, the most notable being the defeat of last year's runner-up, E, W. Perry, in the second round of the championship, by B. Booth, by 2 and 1. The second rounds resulted:— Wairarapa Championship.—T. H. Horton defeated H. G. Moser, 5 and 4; J. Kerr defeated H. E. Hart, 1 up; B. Booth defeated E. W. Perry, 2 and 1; R. McKenzie defeated R. Kebbell, 3 and 2. Wairarapa Handicap.—J. Jameson (12) defeated G. H. Clark (12), 1 up; J. Shearer (12) defeated J. C. Feast (9), 4 and 3; W. H. Booth (10) defeated H. P. Hugo (11), 1 up at the 19th; A. C. Major (11) defeated H. Major (11), 1 up. In the semi-finals to-morrow, Jameson will play Shearer; in the handicap event W. H. Booth will play A. C. Major; and in the championship, Horton will meet Kerr and B. Booth will meet McKenzie. The finals will be played to-morrow afternoon. Akarana Ladies.—The following team will represent the Akarana Ladies’ Golf Club against the Otahuhu Ladies’ Golf Club, at Akarana to-morrow:—Miss O. M.
