Quiet Tone on ’Change
Waihis Active
1 K HOLIDAY atmosphere was registered on ’Change this morning. Most sections were in good tone but little business was put through.
No alteration is registered in the trend of banks, the market continuing firm, with more buyers than sellers. Insurances also register little sign of easing. Buyers of N.Z.’s improved 3d on Saturday’s closing quotations to 425. A similar movement was made in South British, the mid-day call closing with buyers in at 625. Coals, loan and agency, and shipping are steady with little alteration in the market. In the miscellaneous section buyers
of Burns, Philp improved Is on the last quotation to 435. Sellers are not quoting. Buyers of Taranaki Oils came in this morning at 9s, with sellers holding firm at 10s 6d. Wilsons Cements failed to recover from Saturday’s fall, and sellers at 38s 9d were supported by buyers at 38s. Waihis provided the only life to the mining section, two sales taking place at the mid-day call at 11s lOd. To-day’s business.—On ’Change: Waihis, 11s lOd (two parcels).
