FRENCH DEPUTIES MEET

GROUPS IN NEW CHAMBER NOT MUCH CHANGE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) PARIS, Saturday. The French Foreign Minister, M. Briand, was present to-day when the new Chamber of Deputies assembled. Pie looked pale and thin after his illness. The proceedings were very brief, consisting merely of a speech by the “father of the Chamber,” M. Sibille, who is over 80 years of age, and who occupied the presidential chair until a President of the Chamber was elected. M. Sibille laid stress upon the importance of a continuation of national unity. The House presented a fresh aspect with half the old members gone, but there was little change in the groups. It is regarded as practically certain that M. Loucher will succeed M. Fallieres as Minister of Labour, the' latter having been defeated at the recent general election.
