Mr. George Fischer, a through passenger on the Aorangi, is returning to England after a world tour. Dr. C. J. Reakes, C.8.E., DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, arrived from Wellington during the week-end. Mr. J- L. "Webb is leaving by the Aorangi on an extended trip to Canada, U.SA., and Europe. Lieutenant G. N. Rawlings, R.N., arrived by the Tainui yesterday from England to join H.M.S. Dunedin. Dr. and Mrs. G. Bruton Sweet were arrivals in Auckland this morning by che liner Aorangi from Sydney. Mr. R- E. Kemsley, of Sydney, is a through passenger by the Aorangi. He is on his way to New York. Mr. D. Pugh arrived yesterday by the Tainui from England to take up an appointment as schoolmaster on H.M.S. Philomel. Mr. G. S. Lynde, chief mechanical engineer of the New Zealand Railways, is staying at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. E. E. Bailey was admitted by Mr. Justice Blair on Friday as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court on the motion of Mr. H. L. Rees. Sir Henry M. Scott, K.C., of Suva, is at the Grand Hotel. He will leave for home by the Aorangi to-morrow. Mr. A. Menzies, chairman of the management committee of the Auckland Football Association, returned to Auckland to-day from tho South. The Rev. R. Preston, of Yorkshire, a minister of the Methodist Church, arrived this morning by the Aorangi on a holiday tour of the Dominion. Mr. H. O. Brickland, curate of Huntly Parish, and stationed at Ngaruawahia, was ordained priest by Bishop Cherrington yesterday. The Rev. C. Whiteacre and Mrs. Whiteacre arrived by the T«fnui yesterday from England and will go to Eltham. Mr. Whiteacre comes from Nottinghamshire and was appointed by Bishop Sprott, of Wellington.
Mr. A. Freer, a departmental manager for Sargood, Son and Ewen, returned to Auckland yesterday from England by the Tainui. He was accompanied by Mrs. Freer. Mr. W. L. liOwrie, Consul-General in New Zealand for tho United States, arrived from Wellington this morning, and will stay with Mr. Walter Boyle, United States Consul at Auckland. Hp will sail for the United States to-morrow on the Aorangi. Sir Joseph Carruthers, a former Premier of New South Wales, arrived in Auckland to-day by the Aorangi. He will represent the Australian Commonwealth Government at the Captain Cook centenary at Hawaii. Sir Joseph attended the Auckland races this afternoon. Mr. Jan H. Rogge, of New York, the Dutch-American journalist who has been visiting New Zealand, will be a passenger by the Aorangi to-morrow for Honolulu. Mr. Rogge hopes to leave the liner at the Hawaiian port, and spend some time in the islands before proceeding to the United States. Commissioner W. H. Mapp, of the Salvation Army, who arrived from Sydney by the Aorangi to-day, accompanied by Major Frank Taylor, will leave to-night for Wellington. Colonel Knott, chief secretary of the Army in New Zealand, who arrived in Auckland from the South to welcome the commissioner, will also join the party. Major Taylor is a New Zealander born.
