Rugby Rep. Team
“Rugbyite” writes:—l for one cannot compliment the A.R.U. selector on his choice of the team to play Waikato. It seems to me that a place had to be found for Badeley. Now, this player has long passed his prime, and it is not very encouraging for young players to be passed over to keep the older ones in the representative teams. There are some very fast and clever young players among our backs in the senior teams who should be given a chance, among whom I will mention, Fraser, R. Hook, Jameson, Liddle, Minns, Jenkin and Jeffries, who -would do credit to any province. The selector will have to pass through his hands about 30 or 40 men before he can complete his team for the South, owing to accidents and other causes. Paewai could be tried at centre, for that seems to be our weakness, Fraser going full-back. Of the forwards selected, Knight seems to have lost form, Batty is not playing as well as last season and Finlayson has not played front-row for some) time. There v"Q plenty of young forwards that < uld have been tried out in place of Uxose mentioned.
