COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

MANY GUESTS ENTERTAINED The Methodist Memorial Sunday School Hall at Otahuhu was decorated with a vivid canopy of gay streamers on Saturday evening, when Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Trenwith, of Mangere Road, Otahuhu, gave a party in honour of their daughter, Doris’s, 21st birthday. The tables were decked with masses of bright blooms, and during supper a number of toasts were honoured. Mr. J. Hunter proposed the health of the guest, and Mr. John Trenwith responded; the Rev. F. Greenwood proposed the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Trenwith, to which Mr. Trenwith replied. After supper the tables were cleared and games and competitions were interspersed with musical items, contributed by Mr. Wilfred Firth and Miss Doris Trenwith, vocal solos; Miss Evans, violin solo; Miss Nesser, elocutionary item. Each of the 200 guests brought a book, to be presented to the Methodist Orphanage. Mrs. Trenwith wore a becoming gown of black sequined georgette, with relief of silver. Miss Doris Trgnwith chose a dainty frock of mist blue georgette, embroidered in soft tones of pink.
