HAURAKI IMPROVEMENTS
The decision of the Hauraki United Drainage Board to try out the existing drainage works in the Haorhia-Opou area before authorising any further expenditure was rescinded at a fpecial meeting at Turua on Friday. Mr. J. M. Thompson then moved that a drain be constructed in the area, and an argument on the merits of various routes terminated in the decision to get a report by a competent engineer. The question of improving the Jubilee drain was again the subject of a long discussion, and eventually th* work was authorised, but the matter of improving the channel outside the floodgate or alternatiyely removing the floodgate was deferred pending an inspection of the area. The construction of seveial drains:: the Kerepeehi district and several improvement jobs were authorised.
